The photos were taken the same day we heard the wailing of the town siren for several minutes. The sky looked stormy, too. That is NOT what you want to hear while you're staying in Kansas! It turns out the siren was for a house fire and not a tornado, but it sure freaked me and my husband out! I don't remember any tornado scares while living in Abilene as a child, but maybe I've just forgotten. I do know that in just the week and a half we've been here it seems like there's been a thunderstorm every other day! I also don't remember that being the case when I live here as a child. I do remember that in the winter, it was the first time I'd seen knee-high snow!
