Anniversary

This is the outfit I wore on my first date with Vaughan.  I wear it each year for our anniversary, and this year was no different.  Since we had our first date at an Olive Garden, that's where we go each year for our anniversary, too.  This year, we went to the Olive Garden in Danville, Virginia.

Blue and Pink Maxi Dress...with a side of injustice

My husband, who is over 20 years older than me was taking this outfit-of-the-day photo by this plant in our front yard.  We came inside and I edited the photos and my husband and I were sitting on our couch.  I was reading a magazine, he was playing a video game on a smart phone.  The doorbell rang twice, then there was a loud knock.  I looked outside to see there was a police car parked in front of our house.  My husband answered the door and the officer said there was a call about a 16 year old being photographed under duress.  I was asked to show ID, I asked if I had to and was told no, but I was still asked my age, and name.  This is not the first time an incident has happened that is similar to this.  I feel violated, and abused.  This complaint was ridiculous and unfounded and the police should never have violated the sanctity of our home to check on such a call.  I feel that my husband and I are treated unfairly because of our age differences; I KNOW we are.  If you are not safe from police questioning and harassment in your OWN home, then where are you ever safe to live in peace?  How is it that people that make these calls are not jailed for false reporting? I am a fashion blogger, I take photos nearly every day, sometimes on my own property.  I have NEVER had another problem like this when being photographed on public property, so it's even crazier that when the police are called it would be while my husband and I were on our own front lawn.  Now my husband says he doesn't want to photograph me in public anymore, or on our own front lawn.  He says he doesn't want to hold my hand in public from fear of being accused of being a child molester, kidnapper, etc.  Just why is it worthy of a 911 call if I WERE 16?  A man is not allowed to photograph a 16 year old in an outfit like I am wearing?  What if he was my father?  My paid professional photographer? What were we doing that someone felt the need to call 911 over?  The responding officer did not even apologize for wasting our time. I can only assume the person that called the police did so out of malice, or they are so stupid they have no business driving down the street. If you really believe in justice and equality and peace for all, please SHARE this story.

My Easter

They're a little late, but here are some photos of my family Easter lunch.

This year, I re-stained our kitchen dining table, and I loved the results.  It was a little work, but worth it.  The dark finish looks so much better than the original that had faded and worn most of the way off.   The wine rack in the corner was also stained dark to match the rest of the furniture.  I think it look much better than before!

I think the setting was lovely this year.  I kept with an Easter/Spring theme and used pastel colors for the decor.

My family.

The first time I've had macarons for Easter!

Rainforest Cafe

My husband and I had a great time at the Rainforest Cafe in Anaheim, California.  We have been to the ones in San Antonio and Las Vegas, but this was our first time at this southern California location. These are just beautiful places to see!  The ceilings are covered in flowers and leaves, and you feel like you are in a beautiful jungle.  So many fun things to look at, including animatronics, which are always a favorite of mine!

I can't wait until our next visit!

Vaughan is still in uniform from an event he and I attended that morning for the Fisher House Foundation.  The Fisher House is known for providing housing to the families of veterans that are receiving medical treatment.

A beautiful, colorful display in the gift shop.

I have a great view of the aquarium during brunch, and say this fish playing the the bubbles for almost the entire time I was there.  I don't recall ever seeing a fish playing and showing so much personality.  He looked like he was having so much fun!

Jurassic Quest

My dad and I have a great time at the Jurassic Quest show that was held at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, California.  My dad and I have always been interested in dinosaurs.  The show was awesome, and there were many dinosaurs to look at.  We took a ton of pictures and video.  I think the show would be a wonderful experience for children that are interested in dinosaurs, and there are other activities for them, such as getting their pictures taken on top of a dinosaur!

A day or so before the show, I wrote to Jurassic Quest via Facebook and asked if we would be allowed to take photos, they got back to me right away and said we could take all the photos and video we liked.  I really appreciated the fast response.

Mother's Day 2013

My mother, Frances, Vaughan and I all went to Rubio's for the first time.  The food was great, and we like how the inside is decorated.  Vaughan liked how they actually serve beer, which is pretty cool for what is basically a fast-food restaurant.

My mother and I had the Original Fish tacos, which were great.  Vaughan chose the Chipotle Orange Shrimp Salad.  I had a few tastes of that and it was really good!

Pancakes & Booze May 3rd 2013

May 3rd, I went to my first art show where I actually had art on display.  Before, I had been as a model in their fashion show, but didn't have any art in the Pancakes & Booze Art Show.  I have done a lot of things as a model, actress and dancer, but this was a cool, new experience to see my own art on display in public that way!

My pieces are the ankh, skull and coral.  They are made by drawing lots of tiny circles.

Wearing my new The Webster Miami blouse.  I received several compliments on my outfit the first day I wore it!  I found this lovely blouse for just $5.99 from the Disabled Veterans Thrift store in Glendale.
I love the print, and the feel of this tunic.  The print is of green leaves with tiny white flamingos!  And the shade of pink is so soft and beautiful.  I paired it with a string of pink beads that go great with it, and a white tutu skirt I purchased a few years ago from Ebay

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse

Vaughan and I went to dinner at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in Pasadena, California.  I have been to two other locations in the past, but this one in particular is really lovely inside.  It looks like it used to be a bank.

This is a beautiful fountain that is in the same block of retail stores and restaurants that  BJ's is in.

The famous "Pizookie".  It was delicious!  For my side I chose Red Velvet, Vaughan chose Macadamia Nut.
