Building A Fashionable Wardrobe On A Budget

Everyone wants a luxury wardrobe but no one wants to pay the prices that are asked for the privilege of designer clothing. I mean, we do pay for it, but we begrudge the huge costs for a handbag (yes, even if it’s amazing quality!). Having a wardrobe that is fashionable and luxurious doesn't have to break the bank or your sanity, however, not when you can build one on a budget.

The right type of clothing can impact everything in your life. It impacts how you are viewed in the boardroom, how people judge you on the street and yes, it even impacts your confidence. No one has to know that you’ve chosen consignment luxury bags instead of the Gucci off the shelf options. You can have an amazing, fashionable wardrobe without spending everything you earn in an entire salary. Below, we’ve got some fab tips to help you to save a little cash while you shop.

  1. Look at what you’ve got. The very first place that you should start is to look at your current clothing. You might have a closet jam-packed with junk and most of that, you may not have worn for months. Even years! It’s a good idea to go through what you already have and then work out from here what you’ll need to buy to add to it all.

  2. Sell your older clothes. If you want to get your budget together for new clothes, bags and shoes, you need to get rid of some of your older stuff and make some space as much as you need to make more cash. You can clean out the closet and sell the clothes you don't plan to wear anymore. This is actually a great tip because you can use your income here to pay for a whole new wardrobe.

  3. Figure out what you need. So, you know what you have, you’ve sold the things you no longer want or fit, and now you need to work out what it is you need to complete the outfits that you’ve got. Sure, you can always buy new outfits, but sometimes it’s cheaper to add to what you have and finish an outfit. You could need shoes, belts, new pants or even some new jewelry. Mix and match your wardrobe and figure out how you can make your wardrobe really work for your body type.

  4. Head to the online consignment stores. We mentioned consignment luxury bags earlier, but it’s not the only thing sold in consignment stores. There are so many online sites that allow you to sift through the clothing that’s been preloved and you can choose ‘new’ pieces that will fit your style and your wardrobe with ease.

  5. Call a tailor. It may not have occurred to you before, but if you have the right clothes they’re just not the right size, you can save yourself a bunch of money by hiring a tailor to help you instead of buying a whole new wardrobe.
