Kentucky Fried Chicken

Vaughan and I have been wanting to go to the KFC on Western Ave at Oakwood for months now.  I saw that it was a two-story building with a dining area on the second story.  I knew the view would be great, and when we finally went there on January 26th, it was!  You can actually see the Hollywood sign while you're dining!  I think that's pretty cool, especially considering it's a fast-food restaurant.

Soap & Glory Hand Food

I received this tube of hand lotion as a gift for being in the audience of a talk show.  The fragrance is nice, and is does a pretty good job of moisturizing.  I also really like the pretty, pink tube!

Factory 2-U haul

This is my fashion haul from Factory 2 U.  I recently discovered this store and now it's one of my favorites!

These velour leggings were just $3.00 and are made by Connection 18.   The top I'm wearing was also $3.00 and is by George A Ltd.

Vaughan and I both really liked this top, and this price tag said $19.99, but we asked at the counter to make sure because it was on a rack of clothes that said $5.00.  It ended up costing just $7.00!  This shows it's a good idea to ask when it doubt.  I've already worn this several times, it's comfortable and I really love the fabric!  I think I'll be wearing it a lot!  This is made by Coogi.  I've never heard of the brand, but I'm glad I know of them now.

Just a basic black tee, this was only $1.00 and was made by Poof.

Also made by Poof, and also just $1.00.

This is something unlike anything I already own, and for just $1.00, I think it's cool to have fun with fashion without spending a lot.  This was made by Tangerine.

Also $1.00 and made by Tangerine.

I've been wanting a lace top since they were the trend last year, finally got one!  I've always been fond of lace.  It's one of those things that I like to wear, even though it may not look great on me.  This was just $2.00 and is made by Color Story.

My 5th Anniversary with Vaughan

The all-stone Olive Garden
Vaughan and I met on our first date at an Olive Garden 5 years ago on January 25th, 2008.  The Olive Garden was in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Now, each year that we've been together, we go back to an Olive Garden to celebrate.  All except for January 25th 2009, because he was still in Iraq at that time.

This year we went to the Olive Garden in Manhattan Beach, California.  I'd seen this restaurant while I was working in the area last summer and thought is was beautiful because it was all stone.

Enjoying a pitcher of Sangria
We stayed at the Crimson Hotel just a mile down the road from the restaurant, that way we could drink and not have to worry about the ride home.  There was a heated pool, and a jacuzzi in the courtyard.  Vaughan took a swim in the pool a couple times, and we used the jacuzzi once, but in started to rain while were out there.  That was really the only downside to the stay in Manhattan Beach, was that is rained off and on the whole time we were there expect for the day we left.  The sun came out to kiss us goodbye.  I'd wanted to take photos around the pool, but that didn't work out because of the rain.

We reserved a room for the 24th and 25th.  Unfortunately, we didn't get checked in until after 6pm Thursday night because I was working in Hollywood.  We didn't even know there was a pool at the hotel but once we found out there was, we walked up the street to a Target and Vaughan bought a pair of swim trunks.

For lunch on the 25th, we ate hot dogs from a place called Hotdoggers on Sepulveda Blvd.  I remember seeing that restaurant when I was in town before, as well.

A little after 6pm we headed to the Olive Garden.  There, we ordered a pitcher of the berry sangria, which was delicious!  I had two glasses with my Steak Toscano, which was also delicious and cooked well done which is the way I like it.  I was a little worried about ordering steak because I've had it sent to me still pink or red so many times before, but they got it perfect!

What we wore

Vaughan wearing the leather cover-alls he wore on our first date five years ago.  I'm wearing the same top and black sequin skirt by Charlotte Russe that I wore that nigth.  This is another tradition we keep, always wearing the very outfits we wore that night.  It's fun to see we still first in them!

NYC City Duet 2in1 Lip Color

I had been looking for a red lipstick when I came across this tube in a grocery store.

I didn't know at the time that it was two shades in one, one side being a more coral shade the other being a shade of red.

It's hard to me to find a red that I like on myself, but this works pretty well. I've already worn it for a few photo shoots and I liked the results.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub

My husband is actually the one that got me to first use this product.  I've never consistently used facial scrubs, but a few months ago I decided to try an off-brand scrub I found for one dollar.  We got it home and tried it and Vaughan was not impressed.  I tried is St. Ives for comparison and even I could feel the difference.  The dollar store knock-off didn't have nearly the scrubbing grains the St. Ives brand does, it felt more like lotion with a little bit of grit added.

The tub we're currently using is St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub.

The Dollar Tree

I've been shopping at the Dollar Tree since I was a little girl growing up in Virginia.  Now that I live in California, the main dollar store I shop at is 99 Cent Only, which I discovered on my trip out here in 2009.  I like each one for the different things they carry.

I like animal prints, and I thought these socks looked fun!  I like collecting crazy socks!

Toujours Moi perfume

I first found this perfume at a Dollar Tree, years ago.
I wore it on my first dates with my husband, Vaughan, so the scent now brings back good memories.

My mother is very sensitive to fragrance, and perfume can make her allergies start, but this perfume is even mild enough for her.

It's a little hard to find sometime, but you can purchase it online, and sometimes find it in stores.
